Upstairs Stole, amongst other things!
Thanks for all the comments on my previous post – I am really pleased to be on WordPress, it’s a definite improvement from blogger. The Lotus Lace sock is fully repaired and they’re already well worn!
I have some finished stuff! Mainly, my Upstairs Stole, which I am immensely pleased with. Mine is 13 repeats long (I think), and done in Rowan Kidsilk Haze in natural. It’s beautifully soft and warm, but light and airy at the same time. It underwent a tough blocking regime and is now the full height of me
I got a but carried away with the photography, so bear with me :-

So there you go
I think that pattern would look great in sock yarn. It’s also probably great for a first lace project, as it’s easy enough to memorise but not too boring.
Anyway, next I made a sad little amigurumi alien, he was guarding my stash, but OH nabbed him so I’ll have to make another. I love his droopy antennae.

I’m also well under way with my endpaper mitts for me. I’m doing them on size .75mm (medium), but they’re still pretty small! I love the colours though -

I should add that that mitt is now nearly finished
Hmm what else. Well there’s my stone socks, of which I’ve finished the first one:

I’m particularly enamoured with the heel! Got to knit the second one now. I’m going to be travelling today and Thursday so will get lots done then.
I also made this Nintendo DS cosy. Well actually I cheated. I knitted the tube, supposed to be a fingerless mitt, a few months ago. But it was way to itchy for me, being pure alpaca, so I decided to felt it, steek it, and make it into a cosy. It actually didn’t felt, surprisingly. I’m convinced our washing machine (which is older than me), is washing on cold.
Anyway, here it is -

Sooooo finally, what lace am I doing next? Laminaria, baby!
Here’s my swatch:

From the bottom up it goes 3.25mm, 3mm, 2.5mm – I’m using 2.5mm. Those needles, whilst cute and lovely, are totally blunt, and not ideal for the 3 into 3 stars and other such stitches involved. So, I’ve ordered me some addi lace needles, which I’ve never tried before – I’m looking forward to starting with them!
I’ve done the first little bit of the shawl, and am loving it so far. I’m a bit neurotic and am putting a lot of lifelines in.
I should add that the yarn is Wild Fire Fibres (me, lol!) Forte, which is alpaca/silk/cashmere laceweight. It’s very soft and luxurious
I’ve also cast on Pixie’s Pablo socks, and as soon as I finish the endpapers OR the stone socks, I’m casting on a pair of monkeys – yey!
Call me silly, but I’m doing my Christmas knits now – mostly socks. I’m not a fast knitter, so would rather be too early than too late! I’m wanting to cast on an Ice Queen in the Border Tart’s handspun for Mum, but will have to wait til I’ve got a couple of things finished first!
There should soon be lots of really cute, japanese style bags in my shop
I’m away August the 6th-18th so while I can take orders I can’t post them, or answer any emails or anything – I’ll be in Venice you see
Ciao for now anyway!
Just testing (again)
I should say here that I’ve moved over from blogspot.com because it was bugging me more and more! I’ve called it Monkey Feet because I can use my feet to do things like use the remote control and pick things up and stuff, and OH thinks it’s cool (I’m sure he just likes me because I’m weird/entertaining). It’s a bit more exciting than viknits, though I didn’t check to see if there’s any other monkey feets out there – I probably should have done.
Sooooo seems it might take me a while to get wordpress sussed out!
I’ll try showing you my WIPs and finished stuff for now! I’ve just joined the wordpress group on Ravelry, which is really helpful.
Ok, these are my purple socks..

Since finishing them, I’ve cast on this, which is my own yarn
in Broken Stones, it’s the BFL sock yarn which I totally love.
I’m actually now past the heel, where the colours all spread out beautifully

Next are my Lotus Lace socks, from Kai Mistry – they are beautiful and the pattern’s really clear and well written

BUT.. as some of you will already know.. the day after I finished them, I washed them and stupidly left them within reach of Puppy Holly. I later noticed her enjoying herself ripping one up in the garden. I knew if I went out she’s have my chasing her round and would rip them further, so I had to wait in angst til she got bored of it and came into the kitchen, so I dashed out the patio door and grabbed the damaged sock
Luckily, only the heel was ripped to shreds. So I had to put a lifeline through the heel stitches on the back of the leg and bottom of the foot, rip all the broken heel out, and reknit the entire thing! Then graft it to the bottom foot stitches. My grafting skills weren’t too great, but unless you’re an expert you can’t tell there’s a whole new heel on one sock!

Here’s my first amigurumi from creepy cute crochet! Yey!

I didn’t know how to crochet his head tie, so cut it out of felt and stuck it on. OH says he is in fact a she. She doesn’t have a name yet, I’m sure he’ll come up with something wacky for her.
That’s all for now. I’m really busy, but somehow not getting much done – ever get that? It’s really annoying.
Ciao for now!
